There are people that know you, people that enter into your life randomly and come and go. This past week has reminded me a lot about all the people, the people we thought of so greatly that are still a huge part of us and those that aren't.
People are the most important things we have, or at least the most important thing I have. I have the truth people, the people who know my truths, who are a part of me in such a way that there is only honesty and revelation between us. These are the most important people to me. They are the go-to people, the ones I want to talk to...even if it has been awhile; with them it just feels more important, more impactful.
A friend from high school passed away last week and the discovery of that news lead me to one person; a person who hasn't been a part of my life in a long time. I called this person an act I haven't done in many years and it's interesting to think it was the first thing I wanted to do when I heard the news, it felt like something I had to tell her, that I didn't want it just to be something she heard on the street.
It just strikes me today the people I want to have in my life, the people I want to share things with...it never really changes. After all these years, after all the people I've met, it's always the same and there is great comfort in that. I am grateful for it, grateful for the people who have made me strong, made me angry, made me cry & laugh, but mostly just made me, me. Even though I have moved and traveled, they have always been the same. Despite our ebbs and flows in life, they are my people.
